Why do i prefer high temp Silicone for the compression inner seal? Because it is softer, compresses better, forms to less than true rotor housings better than the harder hardness/shore materials. I have been experimenting with various seals over the last 12 years as well as the various failure conditions in these engines and their causes. Hylomar is recommended for these seals or any non ethanol/methanol non-setting(hardening) gasket sealer, Vaseline will work but the seals should be assembled into the engine within a few hours if using a petroleum product like vaseline.
